Beautiful, Fast & Tough -
Mimaki's JV5 Series Delivers it ALL!
[JV5 Media Release]
Have you ever declined valued orders that need immediate delivery? To capture as much business as possible you often need to comply with a customers' request for instant delivery. Your existing inkjet printers cannot satisfy both sufficiently high speed and image quality demands? The JV5 Series is different. While maintaining your current quality you can typically shorten your job turnaround time by up to 75%. With a JV5 series printer you will no longer lose business opportunities because of an inability to provide immediate deliveries.
The JV5 Series coalesces speed, quality & industrial construction into production shop printers.
Mimaki offers the JV5-130, 160 & 320 in both Solvent Printers & the Dye Sublimation Aqueous Formats. The differences being in their size!
At the heart of all digital printers is the imaging system. In the process of creating the amazing speed qualities found in the JV5 series Mimaki made an obvious observation. That is, to obtain high printing speeds, you have to sacrifice quality. Lesser image quality isn't a great concern for distance viewed prints.
Mimaki wanted the JV5 series to be able to create photo realistic prints at high production speeds which they have had great success in. The JV5 Series have 4 times the number of nozzles , which gives 8 lines of 180 nozzles mounted on 4 print heads. Consequently, the system lays down significant ink simultaneously. But Mimaki hasn't stopped there, they staggered the print heads to improve print quality and supercharge the printing speed. ( as seen in the images below)
With its staggered heads, the JV5 prints a 4 in. swath in a single run and therefore gains a speed advantage over conventional printers, much like painting with a wider brush.
The Image above illustrates how the staggered heads & increased number of nozzles contribute to the JV5's high speed / high quality images.
High Speed & High quality were the engineer's goals for these printers. The nozzle count contributes to print quality, but Mimaki has carried forward its earlier technology of the variant dot sizes which creates very detailed & vibrant prints.
The JV5 Ink System has an array of 16, 440ml ink cartridges that sit atop the printer. When 1 group of cartridges runs out of ink, the other kicks in automatically. To maintain speed and print quality without interrupting extended print runs, the Mimaki JV5 has a laser that scans the printhead during printing to detect clogged nozzles. A cleaning cartridge ensures clean print heads.
Added to these remarkable attributes, the JV5 can handle large media rolls, with a media thickness of up to 1 mm where the head will automatically adjust to meet the media's thickness when the media is changed. Its 'take up system' works in conjunction with the JV5's 3 way intelligent heater system which enhances colour development & fixes the ink. A Large-sized Post-heater in addition to the Pre-heater and Print heater provides consistent, high quality prints on untreated vinyl media and provides adequate drying for the media take-up device.
Heavy media has the tendency to feed inconsistently and this frequently causes banding lines where JV5's media compensation system ensures that media weight doesn't affect media feeding and print quality.
Four types of ink are available to meet all your printing needs - Solvent or Aqueous
